DRadio Wissen, a national radio show about contemporary themes, interviewed American Space about the role that emotions play in American politics.
For the show “Redaktionskonferenz”, reporter Julia Möckl spoke with Crister S. Garrett about specifically Barack Obama and his use of emotions or his willingness to show emotions.
Professor Garrett observed that emotions can certainly be part of American politics, and that Barack Obama is not unwilling to show emotions during especially poignant moments (like speaking about the victims of gun violence).
Garrett concluded by underscoring the presidential strategies for communication will be forever changed after Barack Obama, especially regarding social media and popular culture.
